The municipality of Cabezón de Liébana is made up by a total of 12 villages, standing out by the villages of: Frama, Piasca, and Cabezón de Liébana.
Located in the Liébana region, on the south-west of Cantabria, it extends from the southern slope of Peña Sagra´s mountain range. It is a mountainous territory, hollowed by those valleys shaped by the rivers of Aniezo and Cabra. The peak, El Cuernón, 2,042 high, stands out over the whole group of the Peña Sagra range.Its inhabitants are mainly farmers and shepherds. In these last years, the industry of orujo-making and rural tourism have opened new economic alternatives for the people in the valley.Within its monuments we can highlight; the church of Santa María de Piasca, from the XII century, main example of the Romanesque art in Cantabria, the Cantabro-Roman stella of Luriezo, and the popular architectural groups in the villages of Aniezo and Cambarco.
