Gravestenenbrug is a double drawbridge over Spaarne river. The bridge was built in 13th century.
The current bridge was erected in 1950. It is mostly made out of concrete, steel and wood.
One of the most photographed objects of Haarlem.
Fantastic shot, I'm sure they will never make the bridge bigger if the canal stays the same size, also concrete and steel will last a long time too! ~V~
Nicely composed with the bridge and old buildings. I had no idea they had rebuilt some of these bridges as recently as 1950, but I guess that does make sense given their age and usage. V.
