Logroņo's School of Art and Higher Design of La Rioja, commonly known as ESDIR (Escuela Superior de Diseņo de La Rioja) was formed in 1886.The school was formed following the mid-nineteenth century English philosophy that everyday objects should be a thing of beauty.The building itself was designed in 1914 by Antonio Rubio and Luis Mosteiro, following the eclectic style so popular in Madrid at the time.Since its construction, the School of Art and Higher Design remains as the only institution dedicated to teaching arts in La Rioja and stands out as one of the most beautiful buildings in the city.
