Choir Stalls
There are few known facts about the Najera choir stalls because the ensemble has never been studied in depth (Figs. 5 and 6). It has been impossible to conduct systematic research due to the loss of
most archival documents, as well as die disappearance of some parts of the stalls. These losses are due to the nineteenth century"desamortization".During this period the monastery of Santa
Maria el Real was completely abandoned, resulting in great damage to the choir stalls. Recently, a complete restoration has attempted to return the stalls as closely as possible to their original state.
