In this monastery the Royal families of no less than three kingdoms, Navarre, León and Castile are buried. Among the highlights for its sculptural richness graves of Doña Blanca of Navarre, wife of the King is Sancho III. The monastery was founded in the year 1052 by King García, according to tradition, the monarch was going behind a hawk who was chasing a Partridge, until he found them with an image of the Virgin, the Falcon and the Partridge rested next to the limestone massif which is located near the monastery.Don García took it as a divine sign and there founded a monastery that would be royal Pantheon. From the outside, the monastery gives us somewhat defensive as if it were a fortress, especially in the apse, where you can appreciate great buttresses.
