The Market. The Hypostyle Hall

Güell, who two decades before had persuaded Gaudí to play with Greek mythology in the design of the lodges of his summer residence, pressed the architect this time to reinterpret de Doric Art.Firm defender of the legacy of Mediterranean civilizations, Gaudí continues the evolution of the Doric order with the hypostyle hall, started by egyptian art (2.500 BC), perfected by the Greeks (700 BC) and imitated by the Etruscans, Romans and, centuries later, Renaissance artists.

The repetition of the columns, extending throughout, is quite unique. Must be a great place to wander about.
