Josep Maria Jujol, architect and Gaudí´s colleague, was in charge of adorning the column-free areas of the maket place ceiling with rosettes decorated with "trencadís" work. With the intention of providing a splash of color to these vaultes column-free zones, Gaudí devises an allegory to the cycle of life, with four suns that represented the seasons of the year and fourteen moons that depict the lunar cicles (the periods in which the satellite completes its four fases) in order to show that the movement of these stars determines the growth of the crops to be sold in the market.
