Füssen is a town in Bavaria, situated 5 kilometres from the Austrian border. It had been a settlement in Roman times on the Via Claudia Augusta, a road that leads southwards to northern Italy. Füssen has Saint Mang (= Magnus) as its Patron Saint, a hermit who lived here in the 8th century. The baroque Benedictine abbey St. Mang (today museum) was constructed between 1697 and 1726.
