Victoria-Eugenia Theater
The monumental building presents a eclectic neo-plateresque court style which was very fashionable at the time. In the project design, the architect Francisco Urcola took into account international experiments in the latest theatres built in this period in Paris and Vienna.
The facades, made in sandstone, offer a varied collection of compositions from superimposing two orders plus an attic as a general grouping system. Gaps appear in the symmetrical wooden tiles and different types of arches and lintels coexist with varied three-part compositions within the grouping order. The double height of the hall gives very large windows and the corners of this facade house staircase towers covered by neo-plateresque "loggias" which give transition to the different modulation of the lateral facades.
