50km south of Logroño the rock faces of the Sierra de Cameros dominate the Río Iregua from a height of more than 500m. The river valley then narrows, squeezed between massive reddish-coloured boulders. It opens out into an island of greenery, and, a little further on, reaches the village of Villaneuva de Cameros with its half-timbered houses roofed with circular tiles.
