Located on the far side of the Roman Bridge, this tower is the oldest defense building in town. It was erected by the Moors in order to prevent the city from being attacked. In 1369, Calahorra Tower underwent massive reconstruction and reinforcement measures, ordered by Henry II of Trastamara. He added a third tower making the Calahorra Tower some kind of a fortress and giving it its current appearance.
Today, not only Calahorra Tower’s impressive appearance attracts Cordoba visitors. It is also the inside of the building featuring a museum which is of particular interest.
