The style is predominantly late Gothic – which dates back to the original designs – with touches of Baroque and Plateresque styles, thanks to the building’s large number of modifications and additions over the years. Furthermore, in 1540, Gil de Hontanon added some Renaissance influences, resulting in a rather electic mix of architetural style overall.
The facade of the cathedral is filled with elegant sculptures and carvings – visitors often find themselves to be a little dizzy when looking at the ornate designs! This magnificent exterior is definitely the cathedral’s artistic highlight. The main entrance way also demonstrates a flamboyant Gothic style, with exceptionally beautiful carvings of flowers and cherubs.
