I too was thinking some sort of bird eggs from the thumb. Love the contrast of this and the "natural" selective coloring. Very well done.

I thought tjhe thumb was some spuds.
a good capture here, the light tones of the apples
contrasts very well with the darker frosty bits

From the thumb, I thought it was speckled bird eggs in a nest. This makes much more sense for this time of year.

At first I thought this was selective colouring... but obviously not ! I had to scrape the car this morning - it was minus 2.5 degrees when I left home.
