St Johns Hall formerly the home of the Backhouse family, Quakers, bankers and horticulturists. Best known for daffodil breeding, most famously 'Weardale Perfection', their descendant Sarah Dodgson of Hereford bred 'Mrs R O Backhouse' - the worlds first pink daffodil.
Sadly the hall itself has fallen into decline but the gardens live on. I'll be back when the Rhododendrons come out.
