We have both lining our roads here John, from the first settlers here,

seeing this fresh image underscores the effect of latitude...White Kirkley is at 54 degrees, and your white hawthorns are now in bloom...here at 49 degrees N the back garden hawthorn, with pinkish-red flowers, has already blossomed, and all that remains are crisp brown relics..

dainty and delightful blossoms...hawthorns are such a reliable late Spring treat..
