Parting is such sweet sorrow

We lost our beloved Holly today, the vet suspected on Wednesday that she had some sort of tumour, so we took the hardest decision of our lives to end her suffering. She fought to the end even against the sedative which was to help her on her way. Afterwards the vet confirmed the cancer would have taken her soon and painfully, so we did the right thing ...... that doesn't take away our pain though.
Tomorrow she'll be buried in her favourite place where her spirit can still terrorise the local bunnies. She lived a happy life at full throttle, we could all learn a lot from her.
No dog has ever been more loved.

What a wonderful description you wrote about Holly. My eyes are welling up just reading it and seeing her gorgeous shiny coat and gentle eyes. Losing a dog is one of the hardest things we humans have to go through. I feel your pain.

I am so sorry for your loss. I understand how you feel as we lost our dog to cancer two years ago. My thoughts are with you and your family at this sad time. Holly was a beautiful girl with such warm, loving eyes. Jane

Oh I'm so sorry to hear this, Holly was such a lovely girl and was so obviously a great companion for you. You made the right decision and that was the last good thing you could do for her. You will eventually stop looking for her and get used to not having her around(although she will leave a hole for a while as I've experienced.)

Big hugs to you and Mandy, I feel honoured to have been taken for a walk by her.

oh no, not cancer. Your beautiful lass. I'm so very sorry to hear this JJ.
It was clear to see from your photos that she lived life with great joy and inspired joy in all who knew her.
Rest in peace, Holly.

Oh, John....I know so much your pain. I had to put my Sadie down this week as well. It is bittersweet. You hate to see them suffer but you hate to part. They are such a big part of our lives and family members. My hugs go out to you and my heart does too. It is still so fresh with me so I am crying as I write this. Know we all care here and that you will forever have her in your heart. And, she'll meet you on the Rainbow Bridge like my Sadie will be there for me.

I am so sorry! You will miss her so much. It's good though, that she won't be in pain.

JJ,I am so sorry. The final and very painful act of love for a dog is letting her go. It takes courage, because as many dog owners have posted - the loss of loyal pet leaves you with with a deep void that is hard to fill. Run free, Holly.

Johnny J, I can't tell you how sorry I am to read this tonight. I DO know the pain you are suffering.
Holly was a very fortunate girl to be part of your family and I know that you have so many photographic memories to look back on, of this beautiful girl.
Thinking of you.

I certainly know your pain Johnny. We too had to make that decision a few years ago and it does leave a hole in your heart. Holly was part of your family and you all loved her, I'm sure she will be greatly missed. Take comfort n knowing that you made the right decision and she won't be suffering any longer.
Mairéad22-Oct-2010 21:33
Heart-breaking news but Holly had the best home any dog could wish for and you showed your love
for her til the very end.

A sad ending for one who gave so much gusto to her own life and to others. May you be comforted in her loss.
