Kenneths new bridge

view map

Kenneths bridge was washed away just over a year ago
The replacement is now in place, this time it sits on steel girders
It's slightly higher, has proper grippy treads, and it's slightly wider
There's also a ramp to make it easier for perambulators and bath chairs
Exciting times!

other sizes: small medium large auto

A year, gosh it took 93 yrs before our bridge was replaced in 1996, before that it took 40 minutes by road to reach the area that was only a 2 minute swim away :)

Perambulators and bath chairs, LOL. Unfortunately I am old enough to know what it means.
Nice pov looking down.

Lovely and rural...and I bet Kenneth's a happy chappie now he's got his bridge back!

Nice historical view - now the ferryman is out of a job; however, the troll is happy again.
Zak07-Nov-2009 19:17
that'll bridge the gap!

That's a lovely panorama (and bridge!), with some very well balanced light. Nice.
Jackdad07-Nov-2009 18:38
great light. hard to imagine the force of the water required to wash it away in this apparently tranquil setting.

Oh great, I might take the missus and test its wheelchair crudentials.

I did go to see in the map!
I like in your picture this autumnal mood the softness of colours, the gently tired sunlight...
Ah...England!

Parambulators, that takes us back to Seaburn.
Eddy's bridge on the River Derwent was washed away at about the same time but still has no replacement
