This is for anyone who wanted to know how the Minolta 24-85 compares to the kit lens when shooting vegetation. I surmise there is slightly better colour rendition and sharpness from the old lens but more CA/PF towards the edges. The kit really isn't a 'bad' lens, it's just not the best when it comes to brick walls and upright poles if you want them undistorted.
