My friend exzim suggested that we might want to include a Scotch called Glenmorangie in our taste comparisons. This was upon the suggestion of his wife, a woman of clearly impeccable taste. So Robert and I went off to Specs to locate some. Sure enough they had this brand. I learned that it was handcrafted by the sixteen men of Tain. Anyway there were about seven different varieties, so we had to make a decision. Since the purpose of the whole thing was to compare to our 12 year old Glenfiddich, we decided to choose the 12 year old one, thus controlling the variables of the experiment very carefully. Unfortunately, there were two of them, so we had to make a quick decision. Remembering that all it takes is money to do proper experimentation, we bought both of them. We will present our experimental results soon.
We buy the 'original' version John. Here the 26oz bottle costs CAN$44 approx to pay for our free medical service. So I drink rye which is considerably cheaper - no import duties - and save the good stuff for my wife.
Such experiments are exciting to watch and a pleasure in which to participate. I know this from conducting a very scientific comparison of two brands of Irish cream, an event made possible by a good man who lives in Clear Lake, Texas. Results of my own experiment: both varieties were of impeccable taste, so neither can be faulted. This speaks highly of the aforementioned benefactor. However, it must be noted that there WAS a subtle difference: Baileys's had a nice little "kick" in the back of the throat that the other brand lacked. I eagerly await your report. I just hope that the results are actual, NOT experimental.
