As I have mentioned before, one of my hobbies is shooting. I particularly like to shoot pistols. As part of the whole schtick I also reload all my own ammunition. That is a lot of fun. I have been doing it off and on for forty years. Part of the routine is replacing the primers in each shell. I had a tool made by Lee Precision which worked very well. Unfortunately, it bit the dust and I had to get a new one, also from Lee Precision. It arrived on the weekend and I primed a whole bunch of .38 special brass with no problems. Then I decided to prime some .41 Remington magnums which take a larger primer. Unfortunately, the large primer feed mechanism didn't work. I thought I had done something wrong so a lot of time was spent reading instructions and examining the adapter. What I found was that the mechanism that loads a new primer into position would jam. It was clear upon examination with a magnifying glass that there wasn't enough clearance to allow passage of the primer. The light gray object just above center is the feed slider and you can see right above it a primer which clears on the left but not on the right, causing the jam.

So I called Lee Precision this morning (they open at 7:30, if you can believe that) and explained the situation. They said they were aware of the problem and would send me a new, functional adapter at no cost. I was happy with that outcome. Can't wait for it to get here.

No wonder it jammed---primer is a base paint (or a child's textbook).
Happy loading!
