It was a beautiful day here in Acadia National Park. Our big adventure was a boat ride out to Little Cranberry Island and some cruising around the waters near Southwest Harbor. The winds were light and the seas were flat so riding around was comfortable. We saw the Bear Island Light Station and some seals hanging out on the rocks. On Little Cranberry Island we visited the town of Islesford. It is pretty isolated. It is also a lobstering town. There was a museum there which had a film about lobstering. It looks like very hard work.
After returning from the boat trip we made our way to Bernard, Maine and Thurston's Lobster Pound. We figured that there was no way we would visit this area and not have a lobster feed. And so it happened. We each got a 1 1/2 pounder and some slaw and fish chowder (and some local beer). It was terrific. Mission accomplished.
