Project Day 73 - Exile Day 23 - The painters took over the place today. They were painting the primer coat on the new cabinets. There are lots of pieces. They converted the living room into a paint shop to do the drawers by covering everything with plastic and covering the floor with some of the Ram Board rolled cardboard. In the kitchen they built some drying racks. First they did the installed cabinets from which all the drawers and doors had been removed. Then they did the drawers in the living room "shop." Then they started doors and shelves in the kitchen "paint booth." They use an airless paint sprayer which reduces over-spray quite a bit. I have to hand it to these guys, they are all business.
Although they made lots of progress, the only items they primed were the kitchen cabinets. We have all the bathrooms cabinets to go. My guess is that they got about 60% of the priming done. Tomorrow the are going to put the finish coat on the stuff they primed today.
Today's photo shows doors and shelves hanging in their paint booth. They were very careful not to let them touch. There is an awful lot of prep work required to get the parts ready for paint. They caulk all the corners and sand everything. They have to install two hooks on each item that is to be hung. Yesterday's photo showed them doing the prep work.
As for me, I finished the income taxes. Several years ago we got revised 1099 forms from Fidelity two days before the deadline. We had already submitted our forms, so we had to do a revised filing which wasn't hard but was a pain in the neck. Since then we mail them off on the day they are due. I guess for some reason this year they are due on April 18.
