Day 39 - We did make some progress moving things out today, but not very much. Ginny is still deeply engrossed in the design of our renovation. Wall coverings, mirrors and drawer pulls seem to top the list right now. She did a lot of sleuthing and found the stainless steel sinks we want at a very good price, so the order went in. We have quite a bit of new stuff stashed and there is lots more to come.

Ginny's designer Melinda came over today to do an experiment on a wall treatment. The idea was to paint over the grass cloth like wall covering in the bar to achieve some kind of look which I am not able to understand. So they painted a couple spots and quickly came to the conclusion that the existing wall covering is going to take a lot of paint because it is very porous. Aditionally it seems hard to get an even application. Ginny experimented with sealer later in the day. I don't think this approach is going to work out as they had envisioned.

As for me, I continued working on the scanning project. I ended up using VueScan and am learning the quirks, again. The new scanner works well. I have developed a workflow that seems efficient. One thing I am trying to do well is getting the date taken field in the EXIF data correct. Some slides are easy to date. Some are not. For the most part, slides have a date stamped on the holder. I have quite a few, however, that do not. Fortunately there are some notes my mom made over the years that help.

The contractor is stripping
the wallpaper. I agree with you.

I don't know if you're stripping any wallpaper,
but that was never, ever my favorite thing to do.
