30-DEC-2016 Ginny

December 30, 2016

We traveled to Fort Worth today for the wedding of Ginny's Nephew Michael to Angela. It was a very nice affair. There was a nuptial mass at Holy Family Catholic Church. The priest proved that a mass, even with a wedding included and singing the Our Father, can be said in less than an hour. I wish our priests at home could figure that out.

Anyway, back to the story. The reception was held at the old Texas & Pacific railroad station in an old lobby that was wonderfully Art Deco in style. I am not a lover of art or architecture in the broad sense, but I always like Art Deco. We had a great time seeing some family members from Oregon and enjoyed dinner, drinking and dancing. The younger crowd can sure put away a lot of beer. I decided to stick with Maker's Mark and Ginny had some red wine.

One of the "activities" was a married couples dance. Sounded innocent enough to me. So we hit the floor with lots of other people. As the dance went on the host asked people with so many years of marriage to leave the dance floor. We made it to 42 years, along with several others. But the winners of the night were Ginny's Aunt Anne and Uncle Bud with 62 years. Additionally, they are the grandparents of the groom. That was a pretty cool activity.

And so a good time was had by all. They rolled up the carpet at 11:00 pm when the bride and groom beat a hasty retreat through a cordon of revelers brandishing giant sparklers.
