We spent the day at Louisbourg which is about the most eastern part of Cape Breton. This was a location which traded hands between the French and the British several times. It is a Parks Canada location and it is staffed with a cast of zillions. There was a lot of interpretive activities centered around the last French occupation in about 1750. We enjoyed the fife and drum and the shooting. They fired off their muskets a few times and fired two cannons. We had a very nice meal on the premesis. It was served in a period style. As with just about every thing we see on these tours, we could have spent a lot more time there. It was very extensive and it was well done. One of the interesting things I learned was the voyage of Saint Brendan. Apparently, this Irish Monk sailed in a boat to the new world. Whether or not that is true doesn't really matter, it is just fun to think about.
Upon departing Louisbourg, we stopped along the way to Stellarton (our lodging for the night) at a nice restaurant near the Canso Causeway.
