This morning we set out on our new found friends on the first tour of this trip. We are going to Nova Scotia, New Brunswick and P.E.I. In the morning we toured our way to Pictou with a stop at the Glooscap Native Heritage Center. In Pictou we visited a reconstruction of the Hector, a ship that brought the first Scottish settlers to the area. It was interesting, but it is a ship which will never set sail, unfortunately.

After lunch we continued on to Baddeck and stopped for, unfortunately, a short visit to the Alexander Graham Bell museum. As you probably all know, he spent quite a bit of time there working on flying machines, kites and hydrofoils. The most interesting exhibit was the actual hull (very deteriorated) from the HD-4, a hydrofoil that achieved a marine speed record of 71 miles per hour in 1919. Unfortunately for us, we had only an hour before the museum closed. Today's photo is of the front of the museum.

After dinner the whole group went across the street to attend a ceilidh, which is a musical gathering. It was outstanding. It is amazing how much music can be produced by a talented fiddler, piano player and guitar player. We had a great time.
