It was a beautiful, sunny day and we headed out with Joe and Karen to have a good time. Our first stop was Vista House on Crowne Point. This was built in about 1920 as a tourist attraction. It has a great view of the Columbia River basin. In the background you will see Beacon Rock. It is a feature that Lewis and Clark described in their journals. We climbed that rock and enjoyed a nice view from the top. Later we went to the Pendleton woolen mill in Washougal, Washington. Karen shopped and Joe and I spied a bar which we decided was a good place to sit and get out of the sun. Oh yes, we also had a couple beers. We ended the day with a nice Tex-Mex dinner in Beaverton. Back at the house we pretty much crashed and did some laundry. We hit the road Monday. |
