We drove out to Astoria today and had a great time. We went to Fort Clatsop and visited with all our friends from the last five summers when we were volunteers there. At the end of the day there was a pot luck dinner which was a lot of fun. Our hotel was the Crest which is on Tongue Point in Astoria. This place is significant because Lewis and Clark camped there for about a week in late 1805 while they were selecting a site to winter. That site turned out to be Fort Clatsop. The photo shows some large boats in the Columbia River and the shoreline where the Lewis and Clark expedition likely had its camp site.
