We headed to Alpharetta from Nashville today. On the way we made a detour to Lynchburg, and I am glad we did. We took a tour of the Jack Daniels distillery and it was very good. The whole thing lasted about two hours and ended up with a whiskey tasting session. That was interesting. We sampled the standard fare (#7), Gentleman Jack and single barrel. Between the tasting and a description of how they were made, I learned a lot. I have been dabbling with whisky making for about a year and have had some drinkable results. I learned enough today to make some major improvements to my process and I am anxious to get home and try it. The great thing about whisky making is that you can drink your mistakes.

Thanks, but that doesn't work for me. Too many
outstanding warrants.

Sorry, Larry, tax has already been paid on the pure grain alcohol. We can still hammer out a deal, however. Just show up here in Houston and I will assure that you will have a good time.

You know, do you not, that being a government
employee I must turn you over to the revenuers?
Second thought is that we may be able to
hammer out a deal.

I start with pure grain alcohol and take it from there.

How do you get to make whiskey John. Even in free old Texas I can't imagine they let you distill alcohol

Yeah, for $10 you can get a more inclusive tour and a tasting at the end. They still have the free lemonade.

Taste Tests!!! The last time I visited, the county was dry and they served lemonade at the end of the tour. That was 25 years ago.
