We headed to Alpharetta from Nashville today. On the way we made a detour to Lynchburg, and I am glad we did. We took a tour of the Jack Daniels distillery and it was very good. The whole thing lasted about two hours and ended up with a whiskey tasting session. That was interesting. We sampled the standard fare (#7), Gentleman Jack and single barrel. Between the tasting and a description of how they were made, I learned a lot. I have been dabbling with whisky making for about a year and have had some drinkable results. I learned enough today to make some major improvements to my process and I am anxious to get home and try it. The great thing about whisky making is that you can drink your mistakes. |
