I had a lot of photo fun today. Ginny wanted to see if we could get a decent photo in front of the Christmas tree before we took it down. That sounded good to me. I spent HOURS fiddling around with lights and lenses and whatever else I could manipulate in order to get a decent portrait-like shot of the two of us. Normally, Ginny is very impatient with photography, but this evening she wasn't because she wanted a nice picture. The probelm I was having was that the lights made the back wall too light for my tastes. If the tree were a little wider, then that would be a moot point. I set the camera up on a tripod with my 100-400 racked out to 285mm. The distance to the subjects was about 10 meters. Because the room was so dark, the autofocus was balky, so I used live view to get a focus. When I bought the camera I decided to get a long extension cord for the remote release, and that came in very handy. This set up was using an on-camera flash and a remote backlight. It seems to have worked pretty good. This photo was post processed a bit to darken the unwanted wall and window and to lighten our faces a little bit. Ginny was happy with it, so by definition I am thrilled.
I think you are right. Mom still dresses me, however.

nice picture. I think it would be nice if yall were wearing a color different than black or navy because it appears like you're heads are floating a bit. What do you think?
