I spent the day at the Ballunar Festival at Johnson Space Center. The weather was very nice. During the day they have a lot of aerial activities: Balloons, skydivers, amateur rockets, ultralights and RC model airplanes. They also have some stage shows with some local dance groups and the like (which I did not avail myself of.) There is also some good eats and beer. I went over to the beer tent to have a brew as soon as it opened at 9:30 or so. They were advertising a new Budwiser beer that has 55 calories. I DID NOT TRY IT. I wasn't gonna spend good money on Budwiser beer that has been watered down by two thirds.
Anyway, I did get quite a bit of photography done. This shot shows three skydivers lined up on final approach. The long lens compresses the distance, of course. But I thought it was cool.
On my way out in the late afternoon (I had been there 10 hours and didn't want to wait another 4 hours for the glow) I ran into Carl (chempilot) and Sheila on their way in. Carl had his camera, of course. I am interested to see what he gets.
meat bombs!!! uploading to my hard drive now, then put them through my special artsy-fartsy filter in photoshop. we didn't stay long. it was waaaaaay too crowded for my taste. i came back at 7am on sunday to watch the balloon launch, luckily they didn't go because of high winds, but they let us mingle with the balloons and the crews. pretty cool!
