We drove to San Antonio today with our friends from the Seattle area. After touring the Natural Bridge Caverns we went into town and checked into our hotel. We headed out at dark to the River Walk, a big attraction in San Antonio. After wandering around there for a while we went up to the street and headed for the Alamo. For those of you who are not Texians, this is just another Spanish Mission. For those of you who are Texians you know the Battle of the Alamo, Massacre at Goliad and the Battle of San Jacinto were three of the biggest events in Texas history. They all happened in about six weeks. The Battle of San Jacinto was the birth of the Repubic of Texas. Interestingly, Texas was the only state admitted to the Union that was a soverign country at the time of admission. Anyway, at the Alamo, we found the illumination to be pretty neat and the area relatively free of tourists. I spent about a half hour shooting photos between batches of tourists and ended up with this one as my best.

OK, John. I got it geotagged. First time I have tried that. Exzim - cool photo, thanks.

Last time at the Alamo was 1996. My son was pulled out of the crowd to fire a cannon (blank) down the main street. 2nd amendment rights I guess let you fire a cannon down a street. Great town though, as you say John.

Haven't been on the Riverwalk for at least 10 years but its a great spot, good beer, good bars and a good time. Just don't go for a swim.

Not being a Texian, a geotag would help me immensely.
