I have no clue why I let myself get dragged into these situations. It was Pat's birthday, and there was to be a party. I was invited. Lucky me. So I asked Ginny who might be there. She said she didn't know, but I had a sneaking suspicion that her reply was a half truth at best. So I went along with the program.

I was a little concerned when the party was scheduled for the first Friday in Lent. For you non-Catholics out there, Lenten Fridays mean no meat, only fish. This was not looking good. I was pleasantly surprised when we arrived to note the menu included crab meat, shrimp and scallops. Hey, that's pretty good. Actually the food was great. Good job Pat.

Upon arriving, Pat showed me her new refrigerator which had a beer drawer. That was cool. What was even cooler was that it was stocked with real by-god beer, not that wimpy lite stuff. This was looking even better.

Then the bleep hit the fan. I was the only guy there. Four adult type females, two teen-age females and me. This was an uncomfortable situation which was only slightly improved by a second trip to the beer drawer. I don't remember the conversation at dinner. I was trying mighty hard to not say anything that could be taken out of context. Believe me, with six females at the table, you gotta be very careful. I listened a lot, porked out on the food and enjoyed the good beer.

Well, Pat definitely had a good time. You will remember the last social interaction Pat and Ginny also had a real good time. This time around, however they stayed seated in their chairs because the food was easily reachable on the table. So was the wine. This photo captures the mood at the end of the party, wine bottles and all.

No John, do not follow the duct tape suggestion, it implies you might say the wrong thing. Even the possibility is a major felony.
Get yourself a voice activated player that when it hears the word 'John', says -" at once dear", or 'you're right'.

Another close call! May I suggest a different solution to the "bleep might hit the fan" situation?---put duct tape over your mouth. It is 100% effective in solving the wrongful utterance problem but sadly makes the beer unattainable. Everything is a compromise.
