I spent quite a while studying statistics this morning. I have to keep ahead of the students, you know. While studying this seemingly dry subject, I discovered that the Student t-test was invented by William Gosset, at the Guiness Brewery in Dublin. How refreshing.

I was going through my photo files today just for yuks. The photo here is one I took when I first got my digital SLR. I took it in B&W (for what reason I don't know except I was probably playing around with camera settings) and I thought it came out kinda neat. It is a sunrise at LaPorte.

Nice photo, John: the clouds are cool.

I made the fatal mistake of clicking on the Gosset link and was exposed to text and formulae that brought me to the depths of despair. It was as bad as an attack of The Evil Math. I must be a sucker for punishment.

"Student t-test was invented by William Gosset"
Who was drunk at the time or why bother.
