Gallery: The home of General Zagaroza -- The hero of "Cinco de Mayo."

General Ignacio Zaragoza was born on this site in 1829. On May 5, 1862, during the invasion of French forces of Napoleon and Maximilian, in the battle of Puebla, he lead 4,000 poorly armed soldiers to defeat 8,000 veteran French forces. This heroic victory gave Mexico it’s great national patriotic anniversary, “El Cinco De Mayo.”
