Yellow-eyed Penguins (Hoiho)

Shag Point

The rarest Penguin in the world. The Maori name is Hoiho (noise maker)
As these two came ashore at Shag Point and made their torturous way back to their nest site,
other birds could be heard calling from the waves crashing into the rocks.
The flipper bands are identification markers placed by the New Zealand Department of Conservation.
