The Hang Player.

Dunedin Farmers Market.

The Hang is generally played with the hands and fingers instead of mallets.
This lighter means of playing produces an overtone-rich sound that could be considered 'softer' and 'warmer' than the 'bright' sound of a mallet based traditional steelpan.
You can hear the Hang at Wiki http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hang_%28instrument%29
