Best of 50 / 1.4 at f / 1.4



The pics in this gallery represent the highest quality I am able to achieve with the Canon 5D and 50 / 1.4 at f / 1.4 (except for the last, which is at f / 2.8) in the regular course of my using the camera. That is, these are real life pics -- not staged for a lens test. They do not represent my best work in the artistic sense (since I never post fullsize files of my "good" pics), but do represent my best quality in a technical sense. I have included pics from ISO 50 to ISO 3200, with slow shutter speeds and high shutter speeds, of moving targets and stationary targets.

These pics were all converted from RAW in the same way as the pics in the more formal test (BreezeBrowser Pro, combined, aRGB, normal saturation, -4 contrast, 3 sharpness, standard picture style, HQ sharpening). The first two pics have had no post processing applied, and the last pic (the only pic not at f / 1.4) is fully edited -- it's the pic I printed. However, the other pics have also had additional minimal processing (histogram, contrast, and gamma) applied, but with no additional sharpening or noise reduction was used.

Hey Joe, nice shots! Real life pics ARE best for testing the camera and lens. After all, we are not out shooting newspaper and printing the resultys for framing are we? Hope you are enjoying the 5D!
