Chris, I don't have you email, so hopefully you pick this up. Corpus has many great birding spot as well as the Laguna Vista area, not very familiar with areas around Kyle. I assume you are after specific species and would recommend that you sign up for TEXBIRDS at the link below. This will be a great source of info for you and allow you to quickly find where specis of interest can be see. You can also send out a Request for Info on certain species. I would also pay attention to ebird.org and pay attention to the rarity map and you might want to signup for Manage My Alerts. The Texas Parks link below covers most of the key birding spots and they are probably covered in your book, but just in case. In the Corpus Area, don't miss Pollywog Ponds, Hazel Bazemore, Blucher Park, Port Aransas Jetty, Paradise Pond. In the valley, there is way to much choices, but SPI convention center, SPI Jetty, SPI Sheepshead Lot, Laguna Atoscosa NWR will keep you busy on the coast and inland Benson SP, Estero Llano Grande SP, Santa Anna NWR are good choices. Mary Gustafson puts out a rare bird alert on Texbirds every week for the valley so I would pay attention to those emails. Best of Luck and April is a good time as the spring migration gets going in a big way. Let me know if you have any other specific questions.

The diversity of avian wildlife presented here has become extremely impressive.
It's been good to see the watermark become less of a distraction over the years as well.

Joe, it was nice meeting you at the Covered brdge today. I browsed your galleries and I was quite impressed. I posted the last capture I took at the bridge on flickr. I'll check back here in a few days to see if you posted yours.

Really enjoyed the gallery. I enjoy those first and last few moments of the day. Definetely the best time for great shots. Especially when I was living up in Alaska. Great sunset opportunities up there.

Wonderful galleries Joe, especially the wildlife. Your 700mm pictures have such rich colors and contrast. What lens are you using?
