This painted turtle's shell has been broken by a predator. I found the turtle lying on its back and upside down on a gravel road along a windy ridge.
The shell had several teeth marks in it and had been partially broken by what I guess to be a coyote. The turtle was still alive so I took him to the edge of a pond to give him a chance for survivial.
