Photos taken on a short day hike up the Pinnacle Peak Trail in the Mt Rainier National Park on Labor Day 2013. I started my hike just before 5:00am at Reflection Lake and hiked most of the way to the Pinnacle Saddle in the dark. I was back at the trailhead before noon after taking nearly 400 photos. Sorry, I kind of got carried away with the photos over the pond but it is quite an impressive photo opportunity with the light and clouds always changing. I mostly used a 104-24mm lens at 24mm and a few taken with a 14mm lens with the camera right at the water level to several feet above the water surface.
It is interesting to note that the pond is incorrectly identified as Hidden Lake on the internet. It is really an unnamed snow melt puddle and to call it a pond is a little stretch. There is a Hidden Lake in the MRNP but it is on the east side of the mountain and Mt Rainier can not be seen from the lake. In this gallery I'll call the little unnamed pond "Hidden Pond".
