2007-07-20 Final stop on our day trip to western North Carolina. This site is a fabulous one that is well-managed - just having been burned about a year ago. This burn helped reduce competition from woody shrubs and other fast-growing forbs. The S. oreophila are thriving in this setting, and are producing large groups of healthy plants. The seed set looks good, as well. Definitely a spectacular end to a wonderful field trip.
