The monarchs were the big draw. We bought Chasing Monarchs and Four Wings and a Prayer and watched the new NOVA special. Then we researched more, decided to check out the capital for a weekend, tacked on a few colonial cities in the mountain states of Michoacán and Guanajuato, and called it a 900 mile road trip. And for all of those who, with widened eyes, warned us about being robbed, kidnapped, murdered or shaken down by the police... you were wrong. |
