Ottawa: Canada's Scenic Capital

Ottawa is a city steeped in history and tradition. Although the first settlement dates back to 1800, it was the completion of the world-famous Rideau Canal in 1832 that increased its importance. It was chosen as Canada's capital in 1857 because of its strategic location, and by 1876 the buildings of Parliament Hill had been completed. Today, it's the combination of old architecture and modern buildings that fascinates me, as well as the abundance of parks and green space. This gallery highlights the beauty and spirit of Canada's National Capital.
