Family Coccinellidae. Lady Beetles (also known as Lady Bugs) are small and round with varying polka-dot patterns on a red, orange or black background. Lady beetles are among the most well-known and well-liked members of the insect world, possibly because of their voracious appetite for aphids. Many species secrete a sticky fluid from their knee joints when harassed.
