This was the individual that turned my casual interest in dragonflies into a fascinating new hobby. I was watching some birds in a swampy area when this skimmer landed on a reed right in front of me,
showing off its beautiful colours. Since then I have been fascinated by the variation in colours and patterns of these creatures and have made it a point to seek out new odonate species on my outings.
