The Order Hemiptera consists of the true bugs, cicadas, hoppers, aphids and allies. Many produce honeydew, a sweet, liquid waste product which attracts ants....the ants protect these bugs from predators in exchange for the honeydew. Many members of this order produce sound, the most famous of which is the cicada.
