The Formosan Aboriginal Culture Village is located near Pu Li in central Taiwan. It was established in 1986 to preserve and teach about the culture, traditions and history of Taiwan's native aborigines. Groups and individuals from each of Taiwan's 12 aboriginal tribes (Ami, Atayal, Bunun, Kavalan, Paiwan, Pinuyumayan, Rukai, Saisiyat, Thao, Trku, Tsou and Yami) perform here regularly, demonstrating their skills in using traditional tools to make exquisite handicrafts and items of daily necessity. Wearing authentic clothing and adornments, they also stage performances of traditional songs and dances.
The picture shows a performance by the Ami tribe (the largest aboriginal group in Taiwan) at the Naruwan Theatre in the village.
