This was the first diner meal with the future Mr./Mrs. since the Big Question was popped by Alan to Evelyne. Many of us got the news over a week ago but this was the first time many of us have had the chance to sit down with the newly-soon-to-be-Mister-and-Misses. It was such a happy...no, I mean grand occasion but at the same time, it was like most of our other Thursday night diner outings. Are these two sentiments mutually exclusive...inconsistent? I don't think so.
I've known these two individuals for a few years now. Their individual qualities complement each other. Perhaps I will name a few: generosity, kindness, sincerity, dedication. Their recent engagement has left me elated but perhaps, not surprised. There is the feeling that these two people should be together and every once in a while, the Universe seems to spin in the right direction.
Now back to tonight...Even though Alan and Evelyne have taken this important step in their lives, they spent this evening like many others...sharing laughs with us. That's the friendship I cherish individually from Evelyne and Alan...second only to the friendship they offer together as a couple.
