The brutal and unlawful invasion of Goa in 1961 was followed by an attempt to clean the Portuguese presence, mostly ethnical. So the territory was deeply populated by people that had nothing to do with it, mostly Gujaratis, etc.
Most live in very poor conditions, but the government continues to affirm "There Are No Slums In Goa"
